THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF OUTSOURCED SEO SERVICES
Table of Contents
Many small business owners look at outsourcing SEO to an overseas search engine marketing company as the only viable solution to improve their business ranking on search engines and increase traffic to their site, and doing it at the cheapest SEO price as possible. If you consider yourself as one of such business owners, then this article is just for you.
Even though the Internet is huge, it does make the world seem smaller where many search engine marketing companies, from around the world, offer their search engine optimization (SEO) services to businesses of all size, resources and marketing needs, at various cost.
Did you recently receive unsolicited email or cold phone calls from a so called professional overseas SEO company promising you to put your business on top of Google for a couple hundred of dollars a month? Search engine optimization if an effective way of putting your website on the world wide web for everyone to see, whoever, taking the cheap route to putting your business on the Internet and risking a complete disaster is not worth the low SEO cost.
If a so called search engine marketing company from India contacted us offering their SEO optimization services to us for $299/month (did we mention we’re an SEO company?), who is to say that the company trying to sale you their marketing services is not the same company who tried to sale us their services.
If they were skilled search engine optimization consultants as they claim to be, then they would’ve noticed that BuzFind is a search engine optimization company, and never contacted us in the first place.
SOME RECOMMEND OUTSOURCED SEO SERVICES
You might read somewhere that there is nothing wrong with outsourcing your SEO campaign to overseas marketing companies located in India or the Philippines but those articles are usually written by SEO outsourcing companies or consultants trying to make turn what could be dangerous to your site optimization campaign into something that is okay.
Just think about it, if I am such outsourcing company or consultant, wouldn’t I write a biased article? Of course I would.
THE PROS & CONS OF OUTSOURCING SEO TO AN OVERSEAS MARKETING COMPANY
Just like with anything you buy these days, there is a good product and a bad one, and this is actually not a bad thing because that what makes other things work in harmony with the others.
But when it comes to optimizing your business for search engines, you can’t afford to buy something that is mostly bad.
THE PROS OF OUTSOURCED SEO
CHEAP SEO PRICES
To be honest, I looked back at my years of experience dealing with different type of people, different businesses, and could only find one good thing your business will benefit from outsourcing your SEO to an overseas company and it is ‘Cheap SEO price’.
You are all happy now that you were able to get an overseas SEO company to offer you search engine optimization services at a very cheap price. You just hit the jackpot and it’s time to break open the bottles of Champagne and celebrate the deal of the century.
THE CONS OF OUTSOURCING YOUR SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING CAMPAIGN
DIFFERENT TIME ZONE
One problem, from many, of outsourcing your search engine marketing campaign to an overseas company is the different time zone problem. When you are awake and you need to reach the company you hired overseas, chances of them being asleep is high. To combat this issue, some will tell you that they have a satellite location in the US that will always be available to assist you.
We had such a company wanting to offer us their services telling us that their company was on 347 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10016. However, when we called them back telling them that we did visit their so called company at the listed address on their website and we were told that there is no such company by that name, the person at the other end of the phone said that the company is actually in Philadelphia, PA. We asked for the full address but unfortunately, his response was hinging up the phone.
The conversation we had with the above company was not an easy one because the connection was extremely bad. Also, when you give a response, it took several seconds to hear back from the person at the other end. Another problem I had was that I just couldn’t understand the person I was talking to because of the heavy accent.
OLD SEO METHODS STILL IN USE
It seems like the so called SEO experts from overseas still use SEO techniques that are not only old, but also might get your site have a tete-a-tete with the cute Mr. Panda. I am not going into the details of how these old techniques might get you in trouble with Google, and possibly with the other major search engines like Bing and Yahoo, or just won’t get you top ranking as promised, however, I will mention some of them here;
- Article submission
- Site submission to 100s of directories
- Reciprocal linking and link exchange – Welcome to the link farm
- Thin content
- Targeting exact match two or three words phrase instead of performing semantic keyword research and use semantic words instead
LONG LIST OF INCLUDED SEO FEATURES
To impress you and make you believe that you are getting your money’s worth, they will list or email you a long list with up to 30 features/tasks they will perform in order to get you above your competition on search engines. Again, many of those features are old techniques, link exchange for example, that might get your website banned. It is not the quantity that matters but the quality.
LEGAL ACTION – IF NEEDED
When you are an SEO consultant in the US, you know that if there is any problems or disputes, you can take legal action and have your case heard before a judge in one of the US courts. However, what happens if the SEO company was overseas? What are your recourses and can you travel overseas?
